Graeme Smith - Profile Graeme graduated from the University of Calgary with a B.Sc. undergraduate degree in 1998. He then went on to pursue a multidisciplinary M.Sc. degree in Energy and Environment from the University of Calgary, graduating in 2003. His thesis was written on the Block 16 oilfield development of the Ecuadorian Oriente located 500 km east of Quito. The topic, on the Cumulative Effects of Amazon oilfield exploration and development, directed him firmly into the environmental management field and he has become a staunch promoter of quality environmental management in business, with a focus on Latin America. After graduating with his Master�s, Graeme joined the consulting firm Whistler Consultora Cia. Ltda. in Quito, Ecuador and is presently the Technical Manager and a joint owner. Here, his role is project quality control and he has brought a keen sense of quality data collection, quality analysis and quality reporting for a variety of international projects. This has earned him solid recognition as one of the key industry people in the Ecuadorian environmental field, with a focus on project Cumulative Effects analyses and environmental management in the oil and gas, mining, industrial and renewable energy sectors. Graeme has since provided a key role in advancing risk management strategies for governmental agencies in the volcanic and seismic risky Andean region of South America.
