OUR HISTORY: The Canadian Ecuadorian Chamber of Commerce was established in July of 2001 as the result of a large group of companies, both Canadian and Ecuadorian, concerned with strengthening commercial ties between Ecuador and Canada. These companies realized the importance of these ties, and pursed them with an identity that would serve as the connection between corporations and other social sectors of both countries. The Chamber has always responded to these needs, in association with the valuable support of the Canadian Embassy in Ecuador. The need to promote and spread, in an efficient and appropriate manner, the opportunities to increase commercial, educational and cultural exchanges is crucial for the Chamber to maintain its growth pace. During the course of our work, we should emphasize the organization of Trade Missions to Canada in order to spur business in the sectors of telecommunications, tourism, petroleum, forestry and the environment, among others. The accomplishments of the Trade Shows in Ecuador have been ones of the many opportunities for our members to exchange their products and/or services as well as to improve their knowledge about the major aforementioned sectors. In order to provide specialized information, not only for our members but for the community in general, we have organized seminars and conferences covering themes such as education in Canada, migration, exportation, politics, economy and other topics of interest. Social and cultural activities have also had a place on our agenda through the organization of events that reflect cultural traditions. For example, the Cena de Langostas Canadienses (Thanksgiving Dinner) has become a tradition for the Chamber. Our challenge has always been to offer excellent services to our members, and we intend to maintain this strategy for the future. |
