MESSAGE OF THE PRESIDENT

As you know, our Chamber has the leadership of the Federation of Bi-national Chambers of Ecuador (FECABE).  I am very glad to inform you that, among other activities the Federation is executing, on July 12th we subscribed the REDCO Agreement with CORPEI, in order to establish a contact, exchange and spread point of information that will ease the job to promote exports and investments, as well as to support the creation or consolidation of Commercial Information Centers at the location of the members of the Net, so that they will be able to generate their own commercial intelligence, and to provide these services to the users of the Chambers, which belong to the Federation.

                                     EXPORTS TO SOUTH AMERICA BOOMING

Canada's exports have been stuck in low gear for some time, and the strong dollar and U.S. slowdown point to more weakness ahead. But our exports to South America are booming.

It has only been seven years since much of South America was in the throes of financial crisis. For Argentina, which avoided devaluation back in 1999, only to succumb three years later, the recovery has been even more recent.
